Working with difficulty and hope

I am constantly touched by the creativity and compassion children and young people exude for others, even in difficulty. I learn more about myself, relationships and the complex world we live in via every session I facilitate. And yes, young people definitely keep me young ! I remain guided by and committed to actively listening to young people’s rights to be seen, heard and responded to as individuals who continue to require support during significant developmental and transitional times in their life. My work is attachment focused, developmentally guided, integrates brain and body system health, is trauma informed and is ultimately framed within a goal of rediscovering healthier choices, self resilience and and well being goals.

AN specialism IN UNDERSTANDING CHILD, adolescent distress and recovery

  • Working ‘integratively’ simply means that I can tailor my therapeutic approach to clinically respond to the individual needs of where a younger client is today, in a way that makes most sense to them.

  •  I hold a post graduate diploma in Child and adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the respected Terapia Centre for Child Counselling and Psychotherapy. This means I can offer a clinically robust skill set that has been rigorously tested over a number of years training to qualify me to practice in a safe, ethical and pshycologically useful way.

  • I am fully insured, first aid trained and registered with the DBS service.  I am a individual member of the BACP and have sector recommended supervision with a respected UKCP and vSenior Accredited Supervisor and Mental Health Educator and movement practioner.

‘When looking to appoint a school therapist, I was not looking for someone who would simply come in and work with the ‘difficult children’. Stella has skillfully demystified the myth of the ‘difficult child’ by focusing on their emotional needs alongside the role of the adults in the school. We now engage with our learners differently and have developed skills to help regulate ourselves as professionals’.
