The quality of our relationships is the quality OF our lives.

Hello, my name is Stella.

I am a BACP accredited Child and Adolescent Counsellor and Psychotherapist who holds a primary clinical specialism in working with vulnerable Children and Young People (6 -26 years). I offer 121 Counselling and Psychotherapy Sessions, Parent Support, Clinical Supervision for Professionals and Thinking Spaces for one off reflective sessions in Waltham Forest London, E4.

I really understand that some young clients come to counselling and psychotherapy with unprocessed emotional experiences that may be impacting their capacity to thrive in the here and now . Alongside this, unpredictable changes in behaviour, decreases in communication and unsafe coping styles can be very confusing, scary and painful for my clients the primary relationships around them such as families, school and friends.

WORKING WITH DEVELOPING HEARTS, MINDS AND BRAINS

I am always curious about what is important to the children and young people I work with, however they experience their lives. This may include explorations of; difference, loss,  friendships, identity, sexual experiences, family changes, perfectionism, isolation and self doubt. As some children and young people can't always find the words for their feelings, or the feelings for their experiences, I can offer  a range of creative and therapeutic pathways to facilitate a client’s experience in Counselling sessions beyond cognitive talk therapy alone.

A CREATIVELY BASED AND DEVELOPMENTALLY GUIDED APPROACH:

I am clinically trained to integrate developmentally adequate creative interventions for greater emotional regulation and toleration of difficult emotions. This can include; drawing and image making, aspects of music, movement and art therapy, as well as sharing  psycho education about developing brains, our survival responses under duress. Counselling sessions with me are client led and co-created within a safe, non judgmental and experienced therapeutic relationship. Any invite to explore, maybe experiment, or stay exactly where we are for now includes agreements about safety, trust and confidentiality. This seeks to ensure that outcomes are as kind and useful to client’s in the short and long term of their lives.

A RELATIONAL, ATTACHMENT FOCUSED AND TRAUMA TRAINED AND INFORMED RESPONSE:

My psychological framework to work with children and young adults is centrally Relational,  Attachment Focused, Trauma informed ( I am specifically trained in body based trauma treatment ).  This frame is also developmentally guided and creatively based given sometimes words are not enough, or available for what we have experienced. Sessions with me ultimately seek to support vulnerable clients  and families to rediscover a sense of security, self belief, self regulation and hope again. With time, non judgement and a focus on the therapeutic relationship as a central container for experiences, many children and young adults I work with  do rediscover a sense of themselves they like best.

My current practice settings:

  • Private practice - weekly counselling sessions contracted privately with families and clients in the London Borough of Waltham Forest (E4)

  • University Based Counselling Services (UAL University of Arts London London College of Fashion site)

  • A Primary Schools based Counselling Service Founder and Clinical lead

  • Supervision: I am working with Trainee Child and Adolescent Counsellors & Psychotherapists, School SLT Safeguarding leads, Senco’s, and Mental Health Professionals, ensuring the voice of a child and their access to therapeutic interventions can support systems and practices to be trauma and attachment informed.
