Hello, my name is Stella.
I hold a primary Clinical specialism in working therapeutically with Children and Young People aged 6 -26 years). This specalist training alongside 10 years post qualification experience means, I am able to meet a child or young person where there are today, and specifically so. As no two clients experience they lives and challenges in the same and may be developing at different stages, I really understand that some Clients come for support with a range of unprocessed emotional experiences that may be impacting their capacity to feel secure, confident and to thrive in the here and now.
Alongside this, unpredictable changes in behaviour or a capacity to self regulate with caring others can prove a confusing, scary and very tiring time for Clients and the loved ones around them. This is not because adults are failing in any way, but because everyone’s bandwith starts to narrow during times of repeated demand.
I am always curious about what is important to the children and young people I work with.Children and young people can often communicate what is happening inside of them with careful pacing, curioursity and playfulness - rather than a ‘ what wrong’ with them or overtly medicalised’ approach alone .
As some children and young people struggle to find the words for their feelings or the feelings for their experiences, I can offer a range of creative and therapeutic pathways to support a a client’s experience of strengths and challenges, at a pace and ‘language’ that is unique to them and how they view themselves in relation to others in their life. t
If of interest, approaches to difficulty can include; aspects of drawing and image making, creative writing, music, movement and breath strategies for co regulation - as well as sharing psycho education about how our brains may develop, what our survival responses can resort due under repeated duress, and a place where trust, healthy vulnerability and a willingness to feel differently in time is created incrementally and at the Clients pace .
Therapeutic sessions with me are ultimately client led and co-created with a young person’s consent in order for us to maintain safety, safeguarding, boundaries and a bridge between what hurts now and what can be rediscovered in time.
